Prefrontal cortex

Located in the frontal lobe of the brain, the prefrontal cortex is responsible for higher cognitive functions. This includes decision making, personality expression, and moderating social behavior. It processes information from our surroundings, compares it to past experiences, and then reacts accordingly. Its late maturation contributes to its complex role in human cognition and behavior.
