Established in 1996 by Shu-Kun Lin, the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, commonly known as MDPI, is a Switzerland-based publisher of open-access scientific journals. With over 6,750 employees and more than 390 peer-reviewed, open access journals, it stands as one of the largest publishers in terms of journal article output and the largest publisher of open access articles. Its core mission is to promote open scientific exchange across all disciplines.
