masseters

Belonging to the group of facial muscles, the masseters play a crucial role in the mastication process. These quadrangular muscles, located on each side of the face, are responsible for elevating and protracting the mandible, enabling biting and chewing. They originate from the zygomatic arch and extend to the lateral surface of the mandibular ramus.
