Forest degradation

It refers to the process that results in the long-term reduction of the overall potential supply of benefits from the forest, which includes wood, biodiversity and other products. This process is often the result of a combination of human-induced activities such as logging, burning, agricultural conversion, and natural disasters. It does not necessarily lead to deforestation but can severely affect the health and biodiversity of the forest.
